14 Months

Oh, Abigail!  We just love this little pixie.  She is sweet and gentle.  She gives kisses by offering her forehead and then laughing after you kiss her.  She is still crawling, but will "walk" holding our fingers. She even stood without holding on to anything once--until she realized it and quickly sat down with a terrified look on her face.  She is as social and happy as ever. She loves to say "hi" to anyone she can see and she waves "bye-bye" the minute she sees Marc put his coat on in the morning or if I pick up my purse. She also waves to everyone we pass--a big, full-body wave--like she is washing windows.  I took her with me when I went to lunch with a friend this week (can we all say hurray for this semester being finished?!), and she was charming everyone in the restaraunt, leaning out of her highchair and smiling until she caught people's eyes.  She seems to methodically make her way through the restaraunt until she has won over each person!  And the people here in D.C. are a hard sell; they usually work pretty hard to maintain their non-friendliness (too cool for friendliness or maybe they think everyone is a threat to national securty). Anyhow, Abigail can melt the grumpiest soul.

I love to hear her chatter and sing. And, of course, watch her lead the music!  Oh, and she has four teeth on top now--still two on the bottom. We're hoping she grows into those teeth :)

She turned 14 months on December 5, but this picture was taken December 11.

Her latest trick is climbing up on this toy storage bin, which makes me nervous since it is not too sturdy.  She also loves to climb the one stair up to the landing at the base of the steps. She won't go more than one step up, but can't get herself down so she gets "stuck" there.  I know she can go up more stairs (she climbs all the steps up to the play equipment at the park), but maybe the home stairs are more steep?
