My kiddos

No cavities!

Abigail loves puzzles and shapes. We can often find her building this magnetic set or playing kanoodle.

Joseph has been saving (thanks to generous Christmas gifts) for a go-pro. He's really enjoying documenting life (and stunts) with his friends.

Joseph was actually sick on Science Fair day, but we stopped by and got proof of his project!

Women's March on Washington

The day after the Inauguration, I joined millions of women around the world at a Women’s March to protest his policies and his way of treating women and basically all humanity. The main march was in Washington and women from all over the country came! Plus, there were solidarity marches in every other state and many nations around the world. I was one of 500,000 in the streets of DC. It was overwhelming, inspiring, claustrophobic, empowering.  The whole family had planned to come with me, but Joseph was sick so Marc stayed home with the kids while I represented.  Since then, it seems there have been marches and protests every weekend. The following Sunday I protested against President Trump’s Executive Order banning immigrants and refugees from 7 identified countries from entering the US. He is also moving forward building a wall along the US-Mexican border.  I’m trying to be more involved in speaking out not only showing up to protests, but in calling Congressional offices, etc.  Things are happening in our country that I never thought were possible. I will not be silent.

This is my "Don't mess with me face, Mr. Trump."

Inauguration Day

In our DC world, school and work are cancelled for the Inauguration. Others throughout the country may not even notice the day, but our roads are shut down, traffic is snarled for days, and there is definitely a buzz in the air.

In my own little peaceful protest of Donald Trump's inauguration, I took my kids to a food pantry to donate a few bags of food. Then we went to see the movie, "Hidden Figures."  And you know I've been talking about all this with them. I will not let hate and bigotry into my family's narrative. We will #RESIST

And when you're 4, you wear a crown and fairy wings to the theater!

Abigail is Adrenaline!

This year, Abigial took a hip-hop dance class at after-school enrichment. She loved it! And she’s good! The recital was cancelled for snow, so instead on the last day of class, they invited families to watch the kids perform. It was really fun to see Abigail strut her stuff.
Her dance group is called Adrenaline.

Man, I love that girl of mine!

MLK Day of Service

One of my favorite parts of working at The
Catholic University of America is the service days that are hosted by Campus Ministry. I love having students and staff and faculty working side by side to serve the community. This year on the Martin Luther King Day of Service, the kids joined me in making tuna casseroles at the Washington Hebrew Congregation for distribution to local shelters. The kids loved getting to ride a school bus with Catholic students to the site, wearing hair nets, and making new friends.

Baltimore Aquarium

For the past couple years, my parents have given us a membership to the National Aquarium in Baltimore. We've had some wonderful outings, especially for cold winter days or hot summer days--when being outside is unbearable.  As our membership is about to expire, we finally got Marc to join us for a day there. The kids were in heaven showing Marc all of their favorite parts.  Jellyfish and dolphins, sharks and moray eel. Divers and the 3 legged sea turtle. This trip Joseph also brought his buddy Drew. It was a fun day for everyone!
